A pioneer in fund administration and investment operations, Mark leads the Boomtown Innovation Deal Flow team in selecting emerging technologies for our clients.
Mark is a pioneer in the fields of fund administration, investment operations, and operational due diligence, and has held leadership roles at some of the world’s leading money managers and financial services institutions over the past two decades. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Agile Fund Solutions, an outsourced CFO/COO firm for hedge funds, private equity funds, and venture capital funds. Agile has more than $10 billion in assets under administration. At Agile, Mark’s only client was Agile’s largest client, EcoR1 Capital, a biotech hedge fund with over $1.5 billion in assets under management.
Before Agile, Mark was also a Managing Director at Conifer Financial Services, a leading asset services firm in the private equity industry, with over 200 clients and $115 billion of assets under administration worldwide. Prior to Conifer, Mark was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Imprint Capital Advisors, a leading impact investing firm acquired in 2015 by Goldman Sachs.
Earlier in his career, Mark held leadership roles at AlphaMetrix360, a managed accounts platform and fund administrator with more than $30 billion of assets under administration; International Asset Management Limited, a UK-based independent fund of hedge funds investment management; Neuberger Berman Alternative Investment Management, the successor to Lehman Brothers’ profitable Alternative Investment Management division; Prisma Capital Partners and its predecessor, AEGON USA Investment Management, a $2.5 billion fund of funds comprised of 70 managers across all strategies, acquired in 2012 by KKR; and Ramsey Financial, a private investment firm with $1 billion in assets under management.
Mark spent six years in the United States Armed Forces as a Team Chief/Russian Linguist, AN-TSQ138 Trailblazer intelligence team. He provided support to the 1st Armored Division in Germany and subsequently in Southwest Asia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, which required a top-secret security clearance. For his service Mark was awarded the Bronze Star, two Army Commendation Medals and two Good Conduct Medals. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Mark is an avid basketball player and sports fan. He lives in Sugar Land, Texas with his family.
